Raghav Malawat

AI Software Engineer 🧑‍💻

Hi there 👋, I’m Raghav Malawat—a 1st year Master's student at the University of Washington delving into the fascianting world of Generative AI. My current work centers on learning how to architect and manage large-scale AI systems that not only deliver tangible user value but also adhere to principles of ethical responsibility and long-term sustainability. Also intentionally working as a part time student assistant at a pizza joint on campus to gain customer service experience first hand (I can talk hours about my learnings from this role 😄). Over the last 4+ years, I’ve been part of fast-moving, specialized teams at Airbase (acq. by Paylocity), a B2B fintech in San Francisco, and CoLearn (B2C EdTech in Indonesia). I’ve worked across the spectrum—from structured processes to absolute chaos—and learned to adapt quickly to shifting business needs. Whether it’s active development, resolving critical issues for strategic customers, or conducting qualitative data analysis in a foreign land, I’ve worn many hats and enjoyed the challenge. When I’m not working, you’ll find me watching basketball (lately cheering for UW, more fater its entry in the Big 10) or geeking out over the Indian equity markets and the ever-evolving startup ecosystem. The way we work and build products is transforming, and I’m excited to ride this wave and contribute firsthand 🚀. I’ve been fortunate to learn from and collaborate with some brilliant minds along the way, and I’m always on the lookout to connect with folks who share the same passion for building impactful products. Let’s chat! Cheers 🍻

Akaash Patnaik

Director of Engineering, Airbase (Paylocity)

"I had the pleasure of working closely with Raghav Malawat at Airbase where he was a key contributor on my team. What stood out immediately after his arrival was his curiosity and desire to understand the broader business context related to his engineering deliverables. He was always asking good questions and cared strongly about the "why" behind his work.

While he is a versatile developer, he never let the title of "engineer" preclude him from contributing in other areas beyond the development lifecycle. He was always happy to help in any way that served the ultimate outcome of success in his projects.

He also consistently demonstrated an eagerness to keep growing as a professional. He actively solicited feedback and showed enough maturity for me to never feel the need to sugarcoat it for him. He was able to receive general guidance and translate it into actionable takeaways to keep improving his work."
